The choice of a breed with the respect to outdoor activity level may be influenced by how young and physically fit you are. An active and very active dog should be owned by a youthful person who participates in energetic activities like jogging, hunting, hiking, etc, and would like to take their dog along with them. The older you are or feel and the less physical activity you want, the less active and >>> vigorous <<< the breed you should choose.

Active and very active dogs need and should get a lot of exercise. If you have limited space or your lifestyle or working conditions would hinder you from adequately exercising the larger active breeds, you should not consider getting one of these breeds. However, if you live in the suburbs or country, and have a large fenced in area, this is not as much of a concern, since the more active breeds can exercise themselves. The larger the breed the more running space it needs.
