*The Papillon (pronounced pah-pee-YOWN) breed is fine-boned, light, dainty in appearance, with large erect ears like butterfly wings, whence it gets its name.  Another variety has drooping ears.

*The Pekingese breed is a surprisingly solid small compact dog, only about 8 inches tall and weighing up to 14 lbs. It has a long, smooth, profuse coat and a mane around the neck. It has bulging eyes and a pug nose.

*Description: Stubborn...jealous...not a fighter...not especially gentle...generally a one-person dog...expects to be respected...good-natured...intelligent.

 *Behavior: Behavior problems may include irritable snapping, excessive barking, picky eating, at times guard objects and demanding behavior. Somes Pekes have been known to bite to get attention. Some may wheeze or snore.

Breeders recommend not to place this breed in households with young or rowdy children as the breed simply does not like being roughhoused or chased around in a manner that would be more befitting of other breeds.
