*The Irish Terrier breed looks like a small, reddish miniature version of an Irish Wolfhound. It has earned the name "red devil" or "daredevil" from its fearless stubbornness in a fight. The breed was developed to catch and kill vermin and to hunt small prey. Irish Terriers have a rather racy appearance.

*The Kerry Blue Terrier breed is large for a Terrier, but is a medium sized dog in relation to other breeds. It was used for hunting, retrieving, herding, and guarding. The soft, wavy coat takes on a blue-gray cast as the dog ages.

 *The Lakeland breed is a small dog with a short, wiry coat. In England it was used to bolt, catch and kill foxes that preyed upon farmers' livestock, doing this by following the fox, sometimes for great distances, deep into its underground den. The Welsh Terrier is slightly larger than the Lakeland Terrier, but has a similar appearance.
