*Welsh Corgi*
Cardigan / Pembroke

                                                                   Cardigan                                                   Pembroke

*The Cardigan Welsh Corgi and the Pembroke Welsh are very similar in appearance...both breeds have erect ears, a foxy head and the low, Dachshund type body. The Cardigan is slightly taller and more heavily boned, has rounded ears and has bowed legs that point out. Both were used by Welsh farmers as "reverse" herding dogs with the responsibility of driving off neighboring cattle from the owner's crops. Their build and agility permitted them to harass the cows by darting quickly back and forth, barking and snapping as they dodged kicking hooves...this is how Corgis would probably greet any intruder (friend or foe) unless properly trained to stop on command. Both can be good apartment sized guard dogs.

*Origin: Wales

Miniature Collie...Sheltie
