*The Borzoi (pronounced BAWR-zoy) breed once known as the Russian Wolfhound, is a very large, long and lean dog that was developed to course in packs by sight.

they are sometimes nervous around children and need to be introduced to them at an early age if they are to be the pet in a young family.

*The Dachshund (pronounced DOCKS-Hoond) breed is a general name for 6 separate varieties, each of which exhibits the very short legs and long body characteristic of these dogs. The 6 varieties are the result of the combination of 2 sizes (small and miniature) and 3 coat types (short, long, and wiry). They were developed to hunt badgers into their holes and to dig them out or go in after them.

*Description: Lively....courageous...stubborn...bold...always clowning around...jumping...romping...digging a lot...going from resting to play in seconds.

*American Foxhound/English Foxhound*



 *Foxhounds were bred for 4 different functions, and there are therefore 4 different varieties.

 4. Pack hunting dogs
*The pack hunter makes the best pet and is, therefore, the variety represented on the temperament chart below.

*The English Foxhound is a little stouter than its American cousin, but its appearance and temperament are almost identical. The pack hunting Foxhound is a large dog, developed to hunt in packs of 15 or 20 dogs. This essentially social activity has resulted in a very vigorous but submissive dog.
